The number of active Web users declined slightly from May to June after a growth spurt between April and May. The drop of about 750,000 users was tracked by Nielsen//NetRatings in the 10 countries it observed in that period.
Growth was experienced in Brazil (1.14 percent); Italy (1.28 percent); Spain (1.13 percent); Switzerland (0.91 percent) and the U.S. (0.32 percent). Countries where the number of users went down were Australia (0.37 percent); France (2.08 percent); Germany (1.01 percent); Japan (1.65 percent) and the U.K. (1.20 percent. Overall, active home Internet users went down by 0.24 percent in the 10 countries tracked.
Nielsen//NetRatings uses a sampling methodology applied worldwide, which allows for data aggregation on a regional and global basis.
